Hello everyone, This is my second help with a build post. I got some great advice before and am looking to choose between specific parts to come up with a build.

Situation
My current PC is bottle necked and struggles to keep up with modern games. This PC will not be purchased all at once, I have a 1 year old but a good paying job, to keep my finances safe i'll be buying parts on the 15th of every month over the next three months and then putting it together.

- This PC will be built purchased over 3 months but built all at once.
- This PC is for gaming only, I'll use my old PC for any browsing, dvds and such.
- The PC needs to be up-gradable in the future fairly easily, I will be looking to add a High end graphics card next year to replace my 1060.
- Ideally I would like to overclock my CPU.
- I want to be able to do VR.
- I don't mind lowering my settings to much. I want to play games i've missed as well as newer games coming out.
- I do not plan to ever own more than 1 graphics card at a time so SLI or Crossfire is a no go.
- I dont need to worry about Windows, KB, Mouse and monitor just yet.

Parts I need help with

Motherboard
Ok so it's been a while since I've built PC's let alone one I want to use myself purely for games. I need the motherboard to be able to overclock my processor and host DDR4 RAM. Support a headset and at least 2 SSD's (one for windows 10 one for games). The motherboard will need to be able to host a graphics card next year for top of the line (I guess right now it's looking like a 1080ti by the time we get there).

My two choices...
My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £257.04
(includes shipping: £11.10)

CPU
From what I understand I dont really need an i7 for a gaming rig so hopefully this is a nice easy one.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £544.68
(includes shipping: £8.70)

Case
Will everything along with a 1060 be able to fit in either of these two cases? and be able to host a newer graphics card next year (most likely either MSI, Gigabyte or EVGA are my go to brands).

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £205.14
(includes shipping: £13.20)

What I've picked out so far to go with it.

RAM
My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £104.69
(includes shipping: £8.70)

SSDs
My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £189.94
(includes shipping: £0.00)

Coolers
My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £33.37
(includes shipping: £7.39)

And that's it so far. I have a 650W Gold rated power supply already. That should be ok I think? I don't really have a budget other than about £300 a month and i'd like it done by Christmas. I'd love some help picking between the parts and anywhere I could save money or get recommendations. Any other questions please ask. Sorry for the long post and thankyou! I tried to format best I could.

if you're only using it for gaming only an i5 will be more than enough you wont see any improvement in games with an i7 over an i5.

Ace thanks so motherboard wise is it worth paying the extra £45 for the other motherboard? Or would the £99 do me ok? :) its the thing I struggle with the most :(
I must admit if I was building a new system I would be tempted by the GA-Z170X-Ultra but only you can answer if its worth the extra £45 to you. it does have some extra features and newer features.

heres a comparison between both boards

The main difference is a couple of extra connection types (USB Type-C and U.2) which are not essential. The Audio and LAN are also slightly different, but again probably nothing that you would notice in day to day useage.

The £99 board should do you fine.

One thing I would say though is to buy your components all at once rather than over 3 months. If it means putting the money to one side each month then do that, and then buy it all at month 3.

As for the i5 vs i7 thing, then just be aware that some games can bottleneck an i5 at 1080p resolution. There are lots of vids on youtube that show it.
