i've edited my old post with a new question:)

so, i've got my new partition. and i want to use it for everything except the windows folder. is it generally the done thing to move EVERYTHING except the windows folder into my new partition? will doing this cause any problems? or are there things that should be kept with windows. sorry for the constant silly questions but i'm 'new to all this :)

Some things you can move, some you can't. The "Program Files" directory for instance should remain where it is because most of the programs installed there will have path references in the registry and moving them will likely cause them to stop working. "My Documents" etc can be moved but you'll also need to tell Windows where they've gone - I think TweakUI lets you do that.

hmm i was hoping to have all my program files on a different partition to windows in case i get anything bad ever happens. i'll move all my music, files etc though, but thank you for the tweak ui tip. i'll give it a go

so using nlite and reinstall i could have my windows and program files on seperate partitions? does the reinstall require the windows disk because thats something i dont currently have

also can someone help me out with the moving of everything else and what i need to do in tweak UI to tell windows where its all moved to
