Hey All

I have a question for you all.
I have just reformatted but created a partition to back everything up onto.
So now I have my C partition with windows installed on and my D partition with all my music and pictures on etc.
Now my question is, if I installed games such as battlefield 2 on my D partition but then reformatted windows (C Partition) but my battlefield 2 would still be on the D partition. Would battlefield 2 need to be installed as my C partition with windows on was formatted. I am just using battlefield 2 as an example but will install my games on the D partition if it means when I do a reformat I dont have to reinstall all my games.

Thanks, Sam

I would guess yes because all your registry stuff is on C. So when you reinstall windows after formating C, the new Windows won't know where anything is.

If I'm reading the question properly. You are asking that if the game was installed on the D: partition and you did a fresh windows install on C: would it work?
I'm going to say No it won't.

Yes thats what I am asking.

My wife's relative who owns a compter shop advised me not to install "Programs" on a partition other than where the operating system is installed.

He advised me to only store my data ie, photos, music, text documents etc on another partition (if I wanted) and he said it was possible to move "My Documents" to a new partition but to leave Program Files alone!

Thanks for the advice guys.
I will do as you say then I just keep all my data on my D partition and install everything else on my C partition where windows is.
