hi, quick question.

In a spare computer i put together my system drive is 80gb i have just finished installing/setting up windows and other programs, but now decided i'd like to change the drive into 2 partitions something like one 65gb partition and one 15gb. can this be done with leaving my operating system/programs/all files intact? and if so can you point me in the direction of how to do it.

thanks

Since you're looking to change the size of the system partition you'll need to use something like Gparted, Partition Magic or Acronis Disk Director to do it.

are any of them free?

had a look on the websites and it seems Partition Magic and Acronis Disk Director will cost money but cant see anything about Gparted costing anything and it seems to let me download it so i am hoping it is.

i know you get what you pay for but i am only going to need this once so if its going to cost i would just reinstall windows but was hoping to a quick fix.

Gparted is free I believe. There also used to be a fully functional free trial of Partition Magic but I don't know if they still do that.

gparted is free.

download the 'partegmagic' disc

that's is free and contains gparted along with a host of other applications :)
