partition question

What are you putting on them?
Arguably smaller partitions can be managed better, I.e. if moving to another disk/platform but it depends on the use of the disk.

work, vids, music etc

Personally, I don't think there's any point.

Ultimately, you'll just end up needing to resize them (opening up the potential for losing data if there's a power cut during this operation)

Just leave it as one large partition and use folders to separate things.

thats what i thought. asked the question after a 3tb drive dying after less than 5 months, didnt partition so making sure I didnt contribute to its death :D
