Partition Software (free!)

Anyone recommend a package to help me repartition my drive?

Would like something that someone has used before so I know it won't bum up my only drive at the mo....

Might be worth downloading www.ultimatebootcd.com - Full of useful stuff including Manufacturer partition utilities.

I need to keep the data intact, I really cannot afford to format right now.

But require a couple of partitions

May I suggest GParted Live CD?

http://gparted.sourceforge.net/

As flexible as Partition Magic but free

Though if you have any valuable data, back it up BEFORE faffing around with your partition table!

cheers will do mate, its not that I can't use normal means but it would take me so long to get everything back and setup XP side of things its not worth doing

As in no it cant format it in the manner you require, or that its zapped your data? What problem is it having exactly?

just won't do it, I re-size it so that I have a part. of 25Gb, click apply and a bit later it pops saying there was an error, it can't do it.

restart, boot back into XP.

I'm going to try for a second time the now, trying to decorate at the same time!
