Just ordered a TB Hard Drive. I intend to just put the OS on C and have D, E & F partitioned for data, programs etc (for example, I am a flight simulation fan...here will be GBs of stuff on the F drive to cater for this...).

Are there any 'traps' that I need to be aware of...or is it as simple as I believe it is (will be using Acronis to partition).

no its pretty simple.

All I would say is think about partition sizes before you actually create them and store data on them.

Whilst it's possible to change a partition's size when its already formatted and has data on it, I've heard a few stories where its gone horribly wrong !

my c drives was about 10gig for winxp and its now up to 9gig... Same for another partition, OS winXP64 uses about 8-10gig!! Put the paging file or Swap file in other standalone partition D: 15-20gig max really is all thats needed. I created my partitions using the standard windows partionner.

Oh!
I am planning to install Vista...guess I need to rethink the size of the C drive...with 1 TB to play with I guess I could afford to increase the size to 150GB...can always reduce the size later if necessary...or increase it if required!
Come to think of it, I could always add another HD later if all the 'bloatware' begins to take over the original drive...

I have had a 96GB partition for vista on my 640GB drive (500GB data partition). All my games are installed on my C drive though. I find folders are neater than having loads of partitions, but each to their own. 150GB for Vista/apps/games would be pretty good and you wouldn't need to worry about it running short :)
