Laptop went in for repair and hard drive was replaced. However, it is now split like:

I tried to delete volume of the temp (right clicked computer manage disk management) to allow me extend C drive but option wasn't given (greyed out). Preferably just want the C drive. Can’t save files in the Temp drive either.

I think the only way to extend the partition is to do this is whilst re-installing Windows.

Hello and welcome :)

Remove the page file from the temp drive and put it on the c drive. Reboot.

If the dlete option is still greyed out in disc management then boot from your windows cd as if you're doing an install. on the drive selection screen there's a button called 'drive options' I think. Click that and you'll then be able to delete that temp partition. Reboot back into windows and you should then be able to extend the c partition in disc management.

Putting the page file on a seperate partition on the same disc gains ZERO.

The guy that replaced the harddrive has set the pagefile to the temp drive, for whatever reason. It's hidden but you couldn't just copy it over if you could see it.

To change page file settings in Windows 7:

In the Start Menu search box, type "Advanced System Settings" and choose the Control Panel applet that should show up, "View advanced system settings"

Under "Advanced" tab, "Performance" section, click "Settings..."

Under "Advanced" tab, "Virtual Memory" section, click "Change..."

These are the actual settings. Highlight the drive you want it on, in your case 'C', and select 'system managed size', and then click "Set". YOU HAVE TO CLICK THE SET BUTTON. Do the same to remove it from the drive you don't want it on, in your case the 'D' temp drive. ("No paging file".)

Click OK, OK, OK, and you should be prompted for a reboot.

You could probably use something like PartedMagic (or GParted) to do this, if nothing else works.

EDIT: To avoid issues in Windows you probably do want to get rid of the swap/page file from the D drive though
