Hi guys,

i want to use my external hdd with my ps3, only problem is it is formated with NTFS. To not lose all my data can i create a partition on the external hdd and format just that partition as FAT32 (which the PS3 can read). Or will this not work / be bad for the hdd?

thanks,

meloco

It'll work but you'll need to provide some unpartitioned spaceon the drive to do it. You can either copy the contents of the disk elsewhere, delete the existing partition then create two smaller ones or use a utility like Partition Magic to shrink the existing NTFS partition.

If you go down the road of using PM then you might as well just use it to convert the whole thing to FAT32.

Regardless of how you decide to shuffle things around a backup is essential.
