Can i just use disk management like below using XP pro?

Yup you can do it in disk management. Is it a new/old drive? Is it empty or full of data?

magic partition can in theory partition live data, in practice you may want a backup of essential data

I find GParted to be a handy tool to have when it comes to partitioning.

Brand new drive, just use windows disk management. It really is a simple. I have never had a problem with it, and I have never needed to use a 3rd party tool for it.
