Parvum S2.0 Xfire

Over the next few weeks I'll be transplanting my current system in to the awesome Parvum S2.0!
Personally I am really excited for this project as it is my first water cooled build :D

First question for you guys is if two 240mm rads will be sufficient to cool a 3770K and 2x 280X?
I may add an external rad for some more headroom if you think it will be necessary?

My current system:

  • Intel 3770K
  • 2x Asus 280X DCII
  • 256GB OCZ Vertex 4
  • XFX Pro 1000W modular PSU
I use my system mostly for gaming but also mining for the other 20 odd hours of the day when I'm not using it.
The top card tends to run wayy to hot for my liking at around 85-90C when mining

I've been in awe of this case since I first saw the S1.0 so i have finally gotten my hands on a black and red S2.0!

I'll first be getting hold of the water blocks and a new old Z77 Maximus V Gene and then I can plan the watercooling route
Currently I don't really know which res, pump, or rads I'll be getting so advice on this would be much appreciated!

Then next job will be the tubing. I'm hoping to go acrylic but that depends on how complicated the route is and how much patience I have! :p

The once I am all up and running I will be doing the cabling.
As it is a fairly small case, I plan on doing all of the cables completely custom to keep any excess to a minimum.

I'll try and post fairly regular updates but the project mostly relies on be being able to sell some old gear so things will happen as and when I get funds in.

Hope you enjoy!

I have to take it back apart again tonight to take home to birmingham
Good thing it is sooo easy to build!
This case really does feel rock solid. More so than even my Lian Li and I guess that is saying something! :D

Still lots to get but I have to make plans to make sure I do it right
I'm going to be braiding the whole PSU with custom made cables to the correct lengths
Acrylic tubing
EK Supremacy with naked ivy mount

Had a bit of a play today, made some plans and ordered some more bits.

Installing fans in some cases is a pain in the arse! Removable panels make it soo much easier :p

It seems such a shame to remove the amazing cooler from these cards! Glad I went for the full size block. The non-CSQ plexi version leaves much of the PCB still exposed which is just foolish as far as I'm concerned!
Used AS5 on this card for now but I will be using liquid ultra on these and the CPU

Test fit!!
Definitely going to be getting backplates for both cards

Who says this case is mATX only? Look! Fits perfect!

Loaded in the PSU to help me decide where I'm going to mount the pump
Ideally I will mount it around the back as I dont think it will look quite so clean at the front
Looking at using the D5 & XSPC Acrylic Tank Reservoir mounted above the PSU

The trusty FC2 has been stripped down ready to be installed at the front of the case once I have confirmed it wont interfere with the radiators

Thanks for all the great comments guys!

I have no intention to do this case any injustice so hopefully you will like what I have planned!

Looks great. Will all atx boards fit or is it just a few?

"fits perfect"

I can see about 2 inches of overhang?

I will confirm that an ATX motherboard does NOT fit in this case

I got bored, took the bottom off and gave it a test fit ;)

Brought a motherboard of the bay!
Potentially paid a little over the odds for a second hand board but it was a necessary evil to get the project properly underway
Should be here in a few days and then we will have some real progress

Judging by the sticker on the box it was originally purchased from OCUK so I'm sure all will be well :p

Tonight's efforts

My awesome soldering skills went to good use!
The strips are just fixed on temporary for now until I am happy with how it looks as I know the rads will block some of the light when they go in. Protective film is also still on the window.

Pretty happy with how they turned out. May have to down volt them a little :p

This is looking really good :)

Thanks :D

Great lighting!

If you lap the IHS on your 3770k, you can really take advantage of the Supremacy block and CLU for a nice temp dip. (Do eeeet n take pictuuuures!)

What radiators are you using?

Will be following this eagerly!

I'm planning on running it naked at least initially to see what temps I get
Not sure if I will stay like that long term though
Lapping the IHS isn certainly the next best thing! :p

I have not quite decided on the radiators just yet
That's what is holding up the build currently
I think I am going for two 120mm rads in the front to give me space for the fan controller in the top
There isn't a great selection of rads which are actually 120mm wide though so finding two I can actually mount side by side is difficult
Then I will probably go for a HW Labs GT Stealth in the top

Planning on adding I'm some panel mount QDCs for an external AX480 too

Had a play with my braiding today
I've got for the heatshrinkless paracord method based on Lutr0s method
Just had my play on a 6 pin extension I had lying around and I'm really impressed with the results
I have used MDPC-x before and this is far better. Much easier and looks so much nicer

kWm9V9q.jpg.png

Got mine from a site called WildElk and it's just the standard 550 paracord
Pretty sure it's all the same and they have it in hundreds of different colours/patterns
Really impressed with it. Completely opaque so you could get away with any colours wire unlike MDPC braid
I'm using it on 18AWG cable which is relatively thin and there is no slack in
There is also enough give in the cord for thicker cable

Finally ordered the rads!
I've gone for a HW Labs GT Stealth XFlow in the top and two HW Labs GTX-Lite 120s for the front

I think this will give the the cleanest look
I'll install them tomorrow and get some more pictures uploaded!

Got the rads installed!:D
Screws in the top are too long and screws in the front are not long enough so i'll have to get these sorted this weekend

CPU and GPU blocks on

Now I'm just considering the pipework. Acrylic in this could be tough

How's things coming along tubing wise? Have you planned out the route yet? :)

I have an idea in my head but initially I am swapping the x flow rad for the standard version
I'll get some more updated on this soon

lookin good, subbed

Thanks! Much appreciated

I'd be interested to know how you get on with temps here. Since you only have 2x240mm RADs, I would think the temps would be a little warm.

Your not alone on this too :p
I've not water cooled before so I don't know what to expect
I intend on adding support for an external rad too which should alleviate the issues when necessary

Ok so the watercooling is on hold until next week when I can afford to buy the remaining parts :p

In the mean time though, slightly less exciting but just as important...

Cabling!
First off is to sort out the fans and the horrible mix or colours!
6loaKQV.jpg.png
Stickers gone. Much better :)

2hYp1oS.jpg.png
Erghh.... Non removable fan blades meant I had to make some minor modifications...
Long black cables soldered on and surprisingly working!
This will also reduce the number of cables and joints I need so these will be wired directly into the fan controller

iprwUV7.jpg.png
And the paracord on and in the case.
I'll change this cord for red and get some P-clips on there when they turn up from china

I'll be getting in touch with the guys at Parvum for some custom work over the next few days too. Something for them to look forward to :p

One cable down!
Puw2aV3.jpg.png
Braiding with the paracord is easy but lacing the cable into the right shape and trimming the cables to their individual lengths took hours...
RCSQoO9.jpg.png
And around the back

Hopefully I'll have time to do the 24 pin and the two 6 and two 8 pins this weekend
I think they will be much easier than this CPU power cable. Fingers crossed anyway!

Really pleased with how the 24-pin cable turned out!
Still got some more stitching to do and need to crimp around the back but that's the hard bit out the way
The remaining cables should be easy now
QCYUugk.jpg.png

Anyone know where I can get a 2 slot crossfire connector?

I'm off to make some purchases in a short while but I am struggling choosing which pump and res to go with.

I m leaning towards the XSPC Acrylic Tank Reservoir for Laing D5 which is compact and easy to place but I can't find any reviews on its performance.

Ideally I would go for a split res and pump setup for the additional flexibility but it wouldn't be tidy. I think I can fit in a standard D5 and top with a EK-RES X3 110 Reservoir

What do you guys think would be the best solution bearing in mind I am a water cooling noob!

Also, how much fluid would I need? 1ltr should be enough for this I would have thought?
