Pascal Titan-X Launch

Problem is the exchange rate and shortages. A lot of cards have increased by over a £100 so to swap now would mean paying up to £100 more.

If all prices were the same then it wouldnt be an issue. I had a G1 Gaming on pre order at £530 and a EVGA FTW at £560. If I wanted to buy either today then both would cost an extra £130-£140. All those cards you listed are "lessor" cards and the cheapest is £90 more.

Yea people can swap to sometimes a lesser card then their pre order and pay over £100 for the privilege or just wait it out.

Great that Gibbo has allowed certain long pre-order people to swap at no cost but those are the exceptions.

The palit was just the cheapest one without a reference cooler, the zotac has a 5 year warranty versus 2 years for the others, but how often are you replacing cards - 2 years should be enough, the gainward would be my choice from reviews I've seen, they seem great.

Please define lesser and what these cards lack, and does a better card really justify a 3 month+ wait? And how much longer is this guy going to have to wait for his card?

What's up with the extra big boost in Doom using Vulkan?

Now the temptation is to sell my two 1080 FTWs and jump on the Titan bandwagon :D

To be fair the price has increased so much I can probably even make money on what I paid for them... Question is how do they stack up against the Titan once I stick them underwater and clock the crap out of them.

If you're thinking of using the MM for selling then you're maybe not allowed to profit that way...or something similar. Perhaps I'm wrong but there is something in my head saying that you can't sell for profit in MM...

Again the point is that you may be swapping to a card with lesser cooler, no dual bios, poorer components, lesser warranty (in Palits case), no option to fit a waterblock and not void warranty, transferable warranty ( is an issue that affects resale value even if you swap within 2 years) but the biggest issue is having to pay £140 more.

I am sure if people were told that they would have to wait 3 months at the end of May they might have selected a different brand then when they were cheaper.

The whole reason there is a warranty sticker on the card. That's why there is such a thing as waterblock warranty.

Do you think nvidia will let you return a card with no warranty sticker? No chance lol.

It is what it is, but I've had 3 Titans prior to this 2 of them came from nvidia and one from zotac, not one of them had warranty sticker over any parts that stopped me fitting a block

If your carefull not to mark the screws and replace it exactly as it came off I doubt they would know.

Worst case could always claim on you home insurance, I got my rig insured for £3500 against any accidental damage for around an extra £3 a month on my standard insurance, worth if u like modding and messing with expensive stuff a lot :p

Correct. But there is gumtree and *shudders Ebay.

Good idea on the home insurance :)

No I'm ok :). I'm sticking with the 1080's anyway. Not a single game having issues 3440x1440 100hz at the minute.

I'm a dual card man and don't want to be spending another £1200 for 30%. I'll wait for Ti, next Titan or 1180.

Till then I'll just sit back and watch in envy :p

It blows up or develops a fault and your left with an expensive paper weight.

I've had 2 cards now that needed RMA. I won't take that risk with an £1100 card.

Fair enough if it was gigabyte, MSI whom might overlook the missing warranty sticker. But nvidia? No chance.

Never had a graphics card die on me before since I started building from day one.

So I will just keep doing what I've been doing for years and reap the rewards (higher OC/temps halved/silence).

You sound like your one of those people who are unlucky, so you'd better stick to air cooling. :p

The odds are getting higher then :p. Roll up, roll up, place your bets here. :D

Not just unlucky I've known many people with cards developing a fault. Gregster had to RMA one of his Titans.

Been watercooling the past few years now and both my 1080's are on full blocks at solid 2.1ghz. Pic in sig. I'll take the risk if something I do breaks and kills my system.

However if the card literally exploded or develops a fault. I'd rather know I'm ok and warranty is covered with cooler/card modification. That's why I use EVGA now.

Not to go too far off topic I sold a 8800 gtx on eBay with a block on, buyer basically screwed it up got a leak and returned it to me. Nothing I could do but refund

Then I did some thing I'm not really proud of but, I carefully cleaned the obvious water stain from the card put on air cooler and RMA'd to gainward with no warranty sticker

Didn't expect anything, then a month later new card arrived. Maybe I just got lucky

Now for £36 a year I can over volt my stuff even tip a bucket of water in there safe in the knowledge that apart for the £75 excess it'll get replaced

Very sorry gainward I was a young chancer

I once RMA'd one of my 980Ti's. MSI 6G it was. Was an air cooler before I made the decision to jump to water cooling.

Got a scabby refurbished GTX 980 in return, which I then had to send back because it was wrong. Guess I am just unlucky then :p

I asked this in the owners thread, I realize this is more the place to ask...

Will anywhere else other than Nvidia be selling this card?

I know nothing about graphics cards but from the review the card looks amazing, how come it can out perform the 1080 when the 1080 has a higher base and higher boost speed? Sorry for my ignorance but I don't understand it

According to Nvidia no. No one else will be selling the card.

It outperforms it because it has more cuda cores 3584 vs 2560 on the 1080. It also has larger memory bandwidth due to its 384bit bus vs 256bit on the 1080.

That means overall it is faster even though it has a lesser core clock speed. Quite how much will be dependant on overclockability vs the 1080. Such as it overclocks to 2ghz it will be a decent gain. If its only 1.8ghz then not so as most 1080's are capable of 2.1-2.2ghz.

Ok mate thank you, so more cuda cores and memory bandwith would outperform core clock speed?
So if it does overclock decently then for future proofing a Titan X would be the way to go?
