I would say it largely depends on how soon you want a laptop and the schedule for new GPU release. I haven't looked into it recently but the slides I saw some months back certainly suggest there could be some mighty performance gains possible.
Of course I wouldn't put it passed nVidia to gimp the initial cards so there is room for an improved refresh the following year.
I've been wondering this too. Wasn't going to go as far as a desktop-replacement but at least an i7 with a 950m (maybe one of the new gigabyte 15inch from ocuk).
