Passed my driving test!

I wish people would stop lazily basing their details into comparison sites and then getting depressed because they can't insure something. If you are in any high risk group, you need to start PHONING specialist brokers.

Looks like I wont be able to afford a car :(.

Getting £16000 quotes from several places for a £700 car .

I only had £2500 saved up for a car and insurance.

Oh well. Looks like public transport for the rest of my life.

What did you do? Steal a Bugatti and crash it while drunk into a Ferrari garage well on your mobile??

Only tip I have for you is drive like a nun because you dont want to get 6 points and have to do it all again within your first 12 months. Dont take any stupid risks as well. Oh and your insurance is pretty cheap to say that youve just passed. When I first passed I had a 1.4 Clio K reg and I was going to cost me £2.1K a year FC and £1.9K TPFT. The car was only worth £500 so I took insurance under my dads name and only used it like twice a week.

How old is the Astra? £1800 seems steep even for a 17yr old who's just passed! (and I'm not sure if you are only 17 yet!). I paid in the region of £600 insurance for an Astra "G" 1.6 when I first passed.

Mine's the older astra than that and I pay £2100 :eek:

Congratulations though, I passed just a few months ago. The first few times out on your own are a little strange though!

Congratz on passing! Within my first two years of driving my insurance had gone down by over £500. You just have the bite the bullet for a while!
