Passed this morning. Really pleased!

I'm going to test ride 2 Harleys tomorrow.

An Iron 883. Absolutely love the look of these, in fact seeing one of these in November is what made me decide to learn to ride. The only thing which worries me is that I'm pretty tall and heavy and I don't know if it feels to small when I sit on one.

Street Bob special. This is sort of the next bike up. Feels much more my size when I sit on it and has a much bigger engine (1600cc) so I would imagine is has a fair bit more go.
I just don't know if it's too much bike as a first bike.

Anyway.. Does any one have any advice on what will suit me best or indeed on what sort of deals I can get out of the dealer?

Congratulations! Just in time for hopefully some summer weather :D

No Harley will be too much as your first bike they're designed for chilled easy cruising.

Thanks! Yes brilliant. Im looking to buy a new one.

Nice one. Ok from my experience, there are a few things you need to think about when buying new. June for a lot of dealers is a quiet month and they tend to put on deals to entice, rain keeps the punters away = bored salesman which equals more chance for movement on price.

Go in with 2 things in your head 1, Curb your enthusiasm & 2, Stick to your guns. As much as you're tempted to do so, don't tell them you're looking for your first bike and you've just passed your test. I don't want to steal your moment of crowning glory here, but think about it from a salesman POV, it's going to be easy to sell something to someone who is really really really wanting that shiny new bike than someone who is 'just browsing'...

When it comes to negotiating a price/figure, be realistic, I don't know your circumstances (how you are going to pay for it, cash up front or finance via the dealer) but I've never paid the asking OTR price of a new bike, the smallest amount of discount I got was £250 off, the most I got was £1500 of extras. Don't let them faff you off with BS, they have margins and they can move on the price, or if they are adamant, pay full price but with extras. Stick to your guns and walk if they don't play ball, they WILL call you back with a better offer.

I've never bought a Harley (and I can't see me doing so anytime soon :D) so you may find that a HD salesman may be a little harder to work on, because of the HD image and 'wearing the badge' so to speak. But as with anything, if you don't ask..

Good luck and enjoy shopping for your bike :)

I wouldn't fixate too much on engine size, Harley's are not exactly noted for their fire breathing performance, tho granted it will be a torquey beast but still, ide be more worried about how far the insurance companies are going to bend you over on a 1600 versus an 883.

Oh and congratulations, bloody well done!.

Test drove the Iron and a fat Bob Today and just felt like the iron was too small for me, once I got over the weight of the fat Bob I loved it so just doing a couple of sanity checks over the next day and going to order one on Tueday for delivery at the end of the month.

Looking forward to getting on it!

Picked my bike up Today. Weather was awful so I was gutted.
Hopefully get some better weather tomorrow!

Looks good mate! Make sure you get plenty of acf50 to keep it shiny.

How and where do I need to use this?

How do I wash the bike? Its a collection of Chrome, Gloss Black paint and Matt Black paint. Do I just spray it with the pressure washer?

Can I take it to the hand car wash?

I obviously havent got a clue.
