Need to renew my passport and so went into a photo booth. I wear glasses. Sat there and waited for the photo's to commence and the flash to expire. The thing is the flash left 3 slight tiny little reflections on the surface of the glasses. I have just read the accompanying help leaflet and to my dismay it states no reflection or glare on your glasses. WTF I wear glasses! I need glasses and the photo is supposed to represent a recent and true likeness. Is the requirement for a true or concise likeness a joke then?....and how am I supposed to get the photo booth to represent a true likeness if I cannot turn its flash off?

Take your glasses off in the booth :/

It may have been easier to read the help leaflet before going for your pics.

I've looked at the requirements in the application pack, and it states these precise requirements: "A close-up of your head and shoulders so that your head, from the bottom of your chin to your crown is between 29mm and 34mm high."

How are you supposed to ensure this when you're in the booth?

Evidently so. It's a good job I'm not going to dye my hair, not wear my glasses and get a good suntan after it's done then as I might be arrested on the way back in for impersonating somebody else :D

A lot of booths now have notices outside saying they meet passport photo requirements. The last booth I went into had me make sure my face was level with an outline on the screen before taking any photos. Look for a passport approved photo booth and you should be fine.

Your suppose to show your ears, not smile, be lame and sit their like a grumpy old git.

Its true, it made me look like such a dork, some much happier with my student card, as i gave a slight smile.

Don't fret it, they aren't that precise despite what it may say in the leaflet.

You can do them yourself, although it's a little fidgety. I went to a camera shop to get mine done - the guy knew exactly what he was doing and had the right software to make sure the photo was cropped the right way, and it cost about £5, which isn't much more than a booth these days.

The dutch embassy was really fussy about photos, had to have a grey not white background and all sorts of other details.

Got it done at a shop specialising in passport pictures for £10. Whilst I was waiting in the embassy, one guy had to do his photos 3 times in the booth to get it right :p

Even more joy is the requirements are pretty much the same for a child. Getting her a passport photo was a nightmare. 2 rejected by the passport office
