This is were you fail, if the price of a passport was not so high then they would have no problems.
Right, ok... If a family can't afford passports then I think they should question their ability to be able to afford a holiday.

The problem is the amount of "anti-fraud" and "security" they put into passports.. all of which can be cloned/copied/mocked in a matter of minutes anyway.
I got mine renewed last year for the princely sum of £164. I also notice it now says "Passport of the European Union" and not just "Passport of Great Britain" *bulldogs*![]()

I don't see why it should be free because you pay tax. Or means tested, surely if you can afford to go abroad, you can afford a passport.
Just decided to get my *** in gear and get myself my first passport.
£72 to begin with £3 to get the documents sent securely back to me should I wish this (I think I just ticked this box by mistake though, when I could have saved myself £3 buy going to the Post Office /facepalm)
Apparently if you were born before September 1929 or something you get it free! Great! You have to pay roughly 60 years of tax before you get a free passport, and by that time you will probably not be able to get on a plane for health reasons.
And on top of that I may have to attend an interview to verify I am who I say I am.
Anyone else going through the same process just now or want to comment on passport stuff?
My wallet feels very light now.
i'm in belgium and a passport costs €100
but what's even better is you now have to go to the british embassy in paris to get it as the embassy in brussels has stopped issuing passports. cool huh?

lol it costs significantly more unless you are under 17 of course
Don't the spanish only pay 7 quid or something like that?
Belgians get a free ID card which does them for all of Europe. Like the UK one will when it comes save having to spend 72 quid to go to ibiza
