Basically i am going to zante (a greek island) on july the 15th but my passport runs out in september of this year. Will i have to renue it before i go?

Ive rung the passport office at peteborough but they forwarded me to the greek embassy in london which were no help.

So i dont know what to do.

Passports: Passport valid for at least three months after period of intended stay required by all except:
(a) 1. EU/EEA nationals with a valid national ID card and with sufficient funds for their length of stay;
(b) 2. nationals of EU states, Monaco and Switzerland with valid national ID cards;
(c) 3. nationals of EU countries and Switzerland with passports valid for periods of intended stay.

I think there was a similar thread on here the other day, but the destination for the OP was Mexico.

I think it depends on the Country you are travelling too, but I do think you might have a problem.

Reason being that I think if your passport has less than 6 months left remaining then it may not be accepted as being valid upon arrival in the destination country.

common sense would dictate that if you come back before it runs out

surely should not be worried? or am I mistaken. :confused:

Seems that way. I stand corrected on my 6 months statement.

I would double check with the Greek Embassy just in case. But do it over the phone, and don't do a Jack Bauer.

Yes that was me. Basically it has to do with the duration of how long you can stay to visit the country you're going to. For Mexico, it's 6 months, hence your passport needs to be valid for 6 months at least on arrival. For Greece, member of EU, with EU passport, it doesn't matter because you can stay as long as you want, so I'm sure you will be ok with your current passport to travel there.

what I posted above is specific for Greece, as we do not have national ID cards then it appears it must be valid for 3 months after return

Going with a load of lads staying in Laganas.

Hmmm think i might just renew it then, dont suppose anyone knows how much that is going to bankrupt me?
