I was writing a report at work yesterday and when proof reading I realised I'd written treat (tret?) rather than treated and for some reason questioned whether it was correct. After a google, it brings up debates, but no answer  Is it liked spoiled/spoilt, where you can use either? Arguments included meet becomes met, Catherine Cookson using it in various novels etc

Is it a regional word? Is it a word at all?

For example

"The children should be treat equally." or "The children should be treated equally."?

Should be treated me thinks, Past participle.

But as long as your understood it doesn't matter.
treated is both the past simple form of the verb and the past participle.

But if I were you, I'd keep my grammatical opinions to myself.
