PATA 2.5" Notebook Drive

Hi guys

I'm looking to upgrade my HP NW8000 which currently has a Hitachi Travelstar 60GB 7200RPM (7K60).

I've been looking at the Western Digital Scorpio Blue 320GB 5400RPM ATA-100 8MB Cache

What do you think? Also, what kind of performance increase will I get? Does anyone have any of these they can comment on?

I did a HD Tune Benchmark with my current Hitachi 60GB 7200RPM (set to 8mb block and accurate) and I got the following:
Min: 17.3MB/s
Max: 37.9MB/s
Avg: 28.9MB/s

Access: 15.4ms
Burst: 65.9 MB/s
CPU: 7.1%

I found the following results for a 160GB HM160HC

Should I just get one of those? I can get them for under £45, which is much cheaper than the 160GB WD Scorpio Blue at £56, and apparently they're the fastest PATA 2.5" hard drive anyway.

The SATA ones are decent enough, go for it.

Ordered the 320GB WD Scorpio Blue, hopefully will come tomorrow

Just modded the clock generator and volt modded the cpu on the laptop to go from 1.8GHz to 2.4GHz (Dothan) as well, running IBT and hasnt gone above 60'C so I'm guessing all is good!

Well I guess I won't be upgrading to a Core i7 laptop anytime soon then

I have one of these, with the same Samsung hard drive as above. Works excellent, damn snappy too
