What is the difference between Cat 6 and Cat 5 patch cables? I want to buy some but not sure what type to go for. I need quite a bit to connect my brothers Cable modem to his PC which is in his bedroom. Thhis is one i have seen for about £5, any good:

20m CAT-5e RJ45 UTP Moulded Patch Cable 10/100/GbE (Snagless)

Unless you have a very enterprise-class setup, Cat5 is what you need.

Cat6 is certified for higher speeds (that most of us will never see) and the cable is arranged around a semi-solid cruciform core in the middle of the cord.

Cat5e for 99.99% of situations.
