patching rust .... a guide

Howdy

i have some rust patches on a car that i would like to fill in paint and respray (if thats how you fix it!) can anyone point me to any good online guides, or give me any advice for how to do it yourself?

To do it properly, whatever rusty metal is there will need cutting out, new metal letting in, filling and paint...unless its underneath, then you just weld a big bodge plate over the top and cover it in underseal...

Another method is to spot bead blast the area to bare metal and touch up.

The ONLY way to deal with rust is to remove it all, either thorugh cutting it out or bead blasting. There is NO other way, forget chemicals they only slow it down.

in the long term you want to cut it out and weld a patch in then fill, and paint

if left the rust will just spread
