Paternity Leave - Simple Question, simple answer please

So I had to leave work on Thursday around 11am to take my wife to the Hospital, we had our third child which we are so happy about.

Quick question is, officially I have 2 weeks or ten days, so do I return on the Thurs or Fri as I came in for nearly half a day. Or is it dependent on the workplace whether the Thursday will count as day 1?
 
Dependant on the workplace. Decent one will class Friday as day one, if they are ******* expect Thursday to be counted as day one.

Just ask your manager or HR.
 
If the baby was born on thursady then that counts as day one, so youd be expected to return to work 2 Thursdays after :)
 
I got caught out by my last employer with this.

I worked until 11am but then left, so I took it as day 1 and went back to work 9 days later. Queue "what are you doing here, you're not meant to be back until tomorrow!"

Some employers are understanding and decent :)
 
Our system worked that you could take two weeks paternity leave, in the first six months of he childs life, only to be taken after the birth, and each week had to be a complete week, monday to friday. Else it didnt count for payment.

It will depend on your contract, and you hr, ask them.

I'd have a chat with yer line manager tbh.
The initial part section could just be put down as some form of leave without eating into your paternity I would think

Check, as above, with company policy - hopefully they'll give you some leeway, then you'll realise you cant wait to get back to work for a rest :P

My employer is extremely generous - 4 weeks full pay :D
