Under Windows explorer, if I create a folder, even in the root of C, I get a path name too long error.

If I use mkdir from command prompt I can create a folder no problem.

Any idea what might be causing this?

If I create a new folder and don't rename it, its fine, if i try to rename it to anything, even o, I get the error.

Nope, no special characters, like I said, even naming to 'O' caused the error.

Even happened when trying to create and rename folders on a USB stick.

Ended up formatting and reinstalling.

Windows 10 is a strange beast, I would do a refresh. I'm assuming it's ten. If you haven't had the latest version, you could try upgrading to that instead of the refresh.

It was Windows 7.

Never seen the issue before, hopefully never will again.
