Patio - how to get that "Mediterranean" look?

Hopefully this works... few pics from this afternoon here:

Also, with regards those massive drain holes, do they need to be that big, or can they be partly covered? (With something removable obviously :p)

i'd be tempted to do the whole thing left and right that runs up to the house, but not the house itself, only issue i could see is that the 2nd pic down seems to show a small building thats joined to next door, not sure how the finish would look with yours done and next doors not.

if you have the ability maybe photoshop the pics and see what you think, if you can't maybe put a post up for people to have a go ?

yeah, the shed extends to next door, with them having basically the same layout but reversed.

There is the potential to remove the bed in front of the shed and put a pergola there instead, maybe a bench under it, trellis up against the neighbour's side. This would give a defined break on the wall, which would make only rendering our side a lot less obvious ;)

Really not sure though - hence the asking for ideas :p

couple of possibilities then if it was me:

1) leave the centred coloured bush against the shed, maybe transplant the small version on the left over to the right hand side with the other one.

then run trellis either side of it with a couple of nice climbers of your choosing in there.

then render the right hand side of the shed and around to the house

Alternatively remove the coloured bush and just go with trelis/climbers.

personally i like the colour of the bush in the pic so i'd leave it, just depends what climbers you fancy and whether they'd work well together.
