Pauses?

Currently running Windows XP x64 and for some reason everytime I play a game I get a pause every so often (i.e. every 2minutes), this also happens in VLC Media player (but not Windows media player :confused:

).

I have checked task manager while the pauses happen and nothing is rising / going wrong at each pause either (CPU)

Spec (dont think it will be this though?):
X1800XT (with latest cat drivers)
E6400 @ 3.2Ghz
2GB Ram

Sounds like a hardware interrupt issue. I used to get this on an early build of Windows 2000. Turned out that two devices were sharing the same IRQ.

Make sure you've got ACPI enabled (Device Manager->Computer, should have something like "ACPI Multiprocessor PC") and if not then you've gotta reinstall

(changing the HAL from Standard PC to ACPI is not supported by Microsoft - and I tried it once before and it screwed my IRQs up even more)

Try with one stick of ram at a time.
