Pausing Issue

For a while now I've noted that TF2 and other games pause briefly and then carry on. It's incredibly annoying and I'm out of ideas.

I have a Corsair 800D so I thought that it maybe due to the SATA backplate however SMART reports no issues along with HDTUNE and HDTach.

Spec:

i7 920 @ 3.8
12GB Dominator 1600 @ 1523mhz (recently moved from 6GB)
Intel X25-M 80 RAID 0 - boot
WD Black 2TB - game
Logitech G930 headset
Asus P6X58D
Corsair AX1200
Asus 480GTX (Had ATI 4870X2 previously)

I had this same issue with my 4870X2 and I formatted in an attempt to cure it, but it persisted. I moved from the X2 to the 480GTX without formatting and it still persists.

I'm getting increasingly annoyed by this. The next step will probably be trying my WD 2TB connected directly to the motherboard directly, though I really doubt that it's the SATA backplane.

Any ideas?

You have 12Gb of RAM, so your stutter is probably not caused by swapping to your page file. You have tried both Nvidia and ATI graphics cards so its not the ATI drivers.
Your PSU is a beast, so its not your PSU.

What version is the firmware on your SSDs?
Does the stutter only occur during on-line games or also in single-player?

There is a guy on here who had the same problem as you with tf2 back in 2009: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1457816&page=4
(but unfortunately didn't say how he fixed it :( )

From the description you give I get the same problem. No biggie for me but it is a little annoying. Just trying to clarify the symptoms here. How frequently does this happen?

Is it more noticable when I'm playing racing games. Symptoms: all running fine then brief pause for about half a second then continues as normal. Happens maybe once in 20 minutes of racing game.
