Looking for a tactful way of how to approach this.
A few months ago I got a job via a recruiter part of the offer was a pay review after 3 months on passing the probationary period.

I passed my probation with all positive comments, the only slightly negative which I assume they have to give wasn't really a negative at all. But ver no pay review was mentioned.

From experience, I know that the only real way to get a pay rise is to move position or move jobs. However, I am happy here so don't want to miss this chance of getting a bit more money.

Realistically I feel that I have developed over my probation and without wanting to sound big headed I don't see myself as the weakest member of our team.

Anyways how long would you give it before mentioning the review? and how would you bring it up tactfully?

I know that the recruiter said that their previous candidate got a pay increase but I also understand that it's a review and they could just say no.

Did the recruiter mention the pay review on completion of your probation? My experience is recruiters tell you everything you want to hear so you accept the job. My previous role was offered with pay reviews, bonuses and working with the latest technologies etc. I saw none of that in 2.5 years and was probably the worse place I've worked at.

Just politely ask your line manager for a one to one in private and then you can bring it up.

They could indeed say no, so it's best if you come armed with examples where you have excelled and why you feel the review is necessary. Simply walking in and saying "It was supposed to happen after 3 months" isn't a good foundation for it.

As above but I would also make it clear that the review was a condition of you accepting the contract i.e. you aren't just chancing your arm after 3 months in the role (ordinarily I wouldn't expect someone to get a pay review after 3 months unless contractually stipulated or their role had changed significantly).

I know it is no use now but one approach I've taken in the past is to pre-agree the pay rise before signing the contract i.e. state that you are willing to join on £x in order to prove your worth, but that upon successful completion of probation you want to paid a fair rate (£x+y) for the role and that by definition if you have passed your probation then you must be worth that salary assuming it is all agreed up front.

I just be upfront about it and bring it up now, you were due to have a pay review at 3 months can they let you know what is happening.
