How much do the guys pay to race one of the BTCC cars.

People like James Nash, Matt Jackson, Pinkney and the likes all pay to drive.

Anyone know who does not pay to drive in the championship bar the works VXR team?

Don't think Racing Silverline do either, or Team AON.

Fancy a pop like? :D

Cost, I think I read somewhere that it was about £200,000-£250,000 a season for one car.

as Pete says, it' about 200k - 250k for a season, but don't you get 2 cars, or 2 engines at least?

BTW Pete, are you going to British superbikes next weekend?

Hardly anyone in any form of motorsport gets paid to race. I would say there are probably less than a 100 drivers worldwide who can get money to race, most are funded by sponsors from who they take a wage.

I think you mis-read the question :p

He wants to know how much it would cost HIM to enter the BTCC ;)

It's around £250k a season for a drive with one of the top independent teams, but you put a car on the grid for £50k a season if you run it yourself with you own team.

You can get old BTC spec cars from about £20k with a spares package these days.

You wouldn't get in the BTCC without a few seasons racing experience though - TOCA can refuse entries if they don't think the driver's up to it.

The only people who don't pay to drive are Giovanardi and Neal. Jordan was going to run his Vectra under Mike Jordan's Team Eurotech, but as VXR were only running 2 works cars it was probably cheaper to pay VXR to run him. I believe Plato has an arrangement with RML because he brought the title sponsorship to the team.

If I had a few quid I'd have a go in the Clio Cup - cars are £20k brand new and you can get arrive and drive deals.

The Caterham racing series always struck me as good value. You buy the racing spec 7 and get entry into a season of racing thrown in!
