Allo all,

My O2 contract is up for renewal in about six weeks, and I'm looking at getting an iPhone or maybe an HD2.

My issue is however, that I'm going to be moving about the UK three times in the next year, and I know from experience that O2 and Vodaphone don't work at one of these places, and Orange doesn't at one of the others (winner eh!)

As such, I'm looking at just buying one of the handsets either sim-free or allegedly on a PAYG tarrif and then just switching onto a "simplicity" type 1 month contract, so that I can change networks as and when I move.

Firstly, I understand that iPhones are generally locked to a network - does anyone know if you can buy them unlocked, or as an alternative unlock them without doing anything that would void the warranty?

And secondly, I'm a bit confused by the mention of "free wifi" on some tarriffs and not on others - do certain tarriffs restrict the iPhone functionality, or is this me being bit of a ****? Would getting an HTC void this problem?

Many thanks for any answers, just don't want to get stuck buying something that won't then work!
