Paying for TV License

^ Agreed.

But it's not even what happened or him 'sticking up for his rights' that bothered me but more the fact he felt he had to film it. He said he was doing it for his "protection" but in reality he knew damn well he was doing it so he could upload it to Youtube and get a load of "hell yeah" comments from chavs who share his disdain for the authorities.

It's also more common that the kind of people who do this Youtube thing, are actually breaking the law (as opposed to being 'harassed' as they claim in the video). I bet he has a TV and watches live broadcasts all the time. This video is his two fingers up to the licensing people, not an example of a man being victimised.

Again I couldnt agree more. And I would not have been able to put it any better.

Just thought I would put my two pennerth worth in. I'm 65 years old and this is the First time I have ever heard or seen that the BBC can produce a warrant. It is a LOAD of TOSH.
When a rep of the BBC TV licence calls at your door, this is what they ask you. "Do you WATCH TV"..Read it again and again. WATCH TV!
They do not ask "Do you own a TV" because it is not against the law to own a TV or 1000 TVs. Reason now is, Do you Watch TV and you say No, then it's, do you have a PC.
You say Yes then they must prove you watch TV Pics through your PC. They say if you own a PC you must pay for a Licence. Once you say NO I do not watch TV, they go away and do not bother you for 3 years. They even send you a letter stating that. If they catch you watching TV then that is a different kettle of Fish.

If Every person in UK said we NOT buying a TV Licence they would have to drop it just like they did with Radio Licence/CB Licence/Dog Licence.
Time to stick up for our Rights.
NO I do not watch TV, does that give you my answer.

You are missing the point that some people don't really have an issue with it given what it provides, which is why the majority do pay for it.

As somebody pointed out already, if you are the only one in your household paying for it, it costs 40p a day. There aren't many things you can buy for that cheap these days.

Ultimately if people decided to do as you say, the BBCs role will have to be reviewed, or its PSB funding comes from general taxation.

When TVL knock on your door, the first thing they ask before they ask if you watch TV is your name.

I never confirm my name to anyone unsuspected at my door without being shown ID first. I certainly don't confirm anything to a TVL sales person.

Yes it might be only 40p a day, but it soon adds up and £145 a year or whatever it is now is better in my pocket than TVL's. No wonder so many people are in debt or don't have any money if they simply pour money away because it is only a few pounds.

Are you admitting to fraudulent behaviour or explaining that you don't watch live TV?

Can't stand these kind of dicks. And no I'm not talking about the copper or the license man, I mean the guy filming.

"Oh look at me, beating the system and uploading it to Youtube, how hard am I?"

Welcome to the world we live in today, where everyone has a camera on their phone and has a right to film what they want as long as they are not harassing anyone, in this case the guy was protecting his rights by filming the event, so that nothing is misinterpreted, or misunderstood, the TVL caller went onto the guys property, he can film what he likes on his property, no matter how much of a bell-end you think the guy is, his point is valid, there was/is no law broken.

The point being, the police officer was sucked into the whole "No TV Licence = Braking The Law", when challenged about it she backed down, she had no idea if the guy had a TV in the house or not, innocent until proven guilty in this fine country of ours, im sure her time would have been better spent actually fighting against crime and enforcing the law in other areas where there are laws being broken.

Do i currently pay for TVL, yes unfortunately as i pay it to do without the hassle and harassment, even though i watch very little BBC programming (if at all), do i think the TVL should be scrapped, yes i do, i feel they should fight for their ratings/advertisement funding (or do subscription based programming) like every other channel out there, no other channel gets handed Millions and Millions of public money, but in the same stand we don't see any other channel spending £126m (2012) on forcing people to pay for the service either, we don't see Rupert Murdock paying that kind of money to knock on doors insisting that we take out sky subscriptions, if your that good people will either pay for a subscription service, or will tune in to the shows aired boosting ratings/advertising.
