One of the people I work for has asked me to help them set up their new computer(They're not very computer literate at all), i.e. Put everything together, copy old documents over and connect to the internet etc. She has insisted that I receive some payment, but I have no idea how much to charge. Im guessing some sort of flat rate would be best, and I can see the job taking no longer than 2 hours or so. Roughly how much sould I be looking to charge per hour?

It depends how well you know her (Edit: and how hot she is), but I'd say £20 as a flat-rate fee wouldn't be too unreasonable.

Whatever you do, make it clear that you have no intention of being her own personal customer support service ;)

£20 p/h minimum, you'll regret charging less.

Thats fair enough , i ushally charge (depending how far i have to travel) £5(petrol) then £10ph , if i have to do more while im there e.g. install a camera , anti virus etc little things that people ask , ill charge an extra £5 depnding how long im working on that item at the time , if its simple i dont charge the extra dont know if thats fair or not really.. :D

Personally I charge £20, and a fiver if I need to cover fuel etc.
