Yep, so much susceptible to fraud, unlike pumping your card details into every website you want to purchase from.

Precisely. PayPal can just take the money from your account, at least with credit cards you can put an item into dispute before you've paid out, which is what I do with online shopping, buy with a credit card, then settle the credit card balance in full each month.

Sounds like a good way to buy some gold though. Easy to setup a foreign ip, then buy gold, call your bank claim fraud. Not saying that is what you did at all. Just saying it seems possible to get away with it.

Sounds like your PC or network is compromised.

What I don't get is why someone who has hold of your account will go to the effort of trying to match your IP. It's not like they care what happens afterwards.
