Sold something on FB marketplace over a month ago, person who bought it has said it was fine when they got it. Now they say its faulty and want a full refund.

Obviously its a private sale with no warranty given or even implied and with a month and a half passing since its sale, I am reluctant to honour it. They are now threatening to go through PayPal, what are my options here?

It's been ages since i read PP's T&Cs, but general consensus is the above, you will lose the money.

Depending on item, i'd call his bluff in reaction to this and ask for it to be returned. If you can fix it then all you've lost is some postage costs. It's a difficult position to be in, and why i avoid PP / ebay selling.

Yeah, gonna kiss that money good bye.
FB marketplace = cash only. Bank transfer at a push, but they only leave with the item once the money hits my account.

(Should've sold on MM if it was a computer item)

I am pretty sure you will be fine. You are not a shop, this was a private sale and they have said it was working fine for 6 weeks. Paypal Goods and services protects you from being scammed, it doesn't provide you with a warranty for an item that lasts months.

I bought a bike from eBay a few years ago and picked it up. All looked fine until I got it home and realised it had issues you would only notice if you took the thing apart and paypal/ebay didn't want to know. As far as they were concerned, if you pick an item up then you should make sure you are happy with it and once you leave, thats the end of it. Sale complete.

let's hope so for OP's sake

Not sure what to do really, guy is adamant about returning it, but as it was a private sale, with no warranty and he said it worked fine when he got it. Why should I take it back after he's had 6 weeks to wreck it. Think I may just say, go through paypal.
