Sold something of ebay and the buyer has had the item two weeks saying its 100% fine, get home tonight and hes trying to get a refund saying hes not happy with the item.

Ive removed all bank cards and accounts from paypal, can they still charge my card now? should i phone up the bank and tell them not to authorise paypal to charge me for any reason?

cheers

Had a chargeback done to me today, I sold my MacBook Air for £1100 and the guy has had it about 4 weeks.

Now I receive an unauthorised payment, yet he won't reply to me, is no longer registered, but had over 290 feedback?

I even have the pdf. of a signature for the item when it was delivered thanks to special delivery.

I'm now £1000 in RED on paypal, it sucked away around £40 I had in it, and locked down my account.

It's linked to a secondary account I have which never has much in it (around to 50 pounds)....I hope they don't try to get it from the account? Knowing Natwest they'll allow them too even though its a basic account?

I gotta sit and wait now while Paypal and the guys credit card discuss the case! :(

BAD TIMES.

He had high feedback because it was probably done from a hijacked account. Same happened to me a few years ago. Now I don't sell anything more than around £150 on ebay anymore (unless it's a car).

Expect a few phone calls from Paypal over the next few weeks but don't worry, you won't have to pay them anything. They will try to take it from your account so tell Natwest not to authorise it and back it up in writing (because Natwest will whack you with a failed item charge).

Where are the "Paypal and ebay is fine if you just follow the rules" crowd tonight?

edit again: sorry, misread that last part!

Paypal sucks cos of chargebacks. Apparently, Moneybookers is safer as you can't do chargebacks there! Never used it myself though.

Delivered a £200 fishing pole to someone using Fedex. I check the status and he has signed for it. So it was delivered.
Got a paypal dispute opened tonight and the money already taken from my paypal account. He says the pole is not in the tube...... Even though it was signed for.
I aint got a leg to stand on, paypal are bound to rip me off and refund him even though I could not have done anything about it. The pole was defiantly in there 100000% certain.
Got an email from him "Suggesting" that I did not put the pole in the tube lol. Some people take the p*ss.
Like someone else said, Paypal always side with the buyer and they charge you for this service, bloody joke.

To add a bit of good news...

Sold a cpu for £120 on eBay few days ago, buyer also in London, but too far away to meet up. I asked him can he use bank transfer instead of paypal, which he did!! So no paypal fees! And no risk of chargeback etc!

:)

Even if you unlink your accounts/cards don't ebay just sell on your debt to a collection agency?

No. Even if they do you didn't sign a CCA. Even though Paypal like to act as if they have the same authority as banks and other financial institutions, they don't.

I don't think i'll ever sell on ebay again, in recent years it seems to be just businesses that can't afford to make a decent website and con artists.

I remember back in the day selling various bits and bobs, and people would actually post cash out a lot of the time.
