Ok I bought some home cinema bits form a guy on ebay for 3750 pounds in mid March, I paid by bank transfer. I did a bit of background checks on the gay and he live in a 1.3 million pound house in Scotland so I thought I was safe, I got a cope of his drivers licence and I noted the number plate of his cars.

This is his house Donavourd House

Since then he has given me lots of excuses and basically nothing has been dispatched to me. He has said on a number of occasions that the package has been sent, he even gave me the tracking number a couple of times, once he said that he dropped the stuff directly to Parcel force.

He has claimed send a refund on 3 occasions, the last time he said it was done via bank transfer on Monday which never arrived.

Today I checked my paypal account and he has refunded the full amount using a eCheque, paypal says it will clear on the 2nd June. My question is after the 2nd of June what is the risk of me having the money taken back?

It seems as though this gay may be a bit bent. From what I can tell it is possible to reverse the eCheque, so he may try to screw you. I'm not sure what else you can do though, unfortunately.

You did back ground checks and got his driving license copy and registration plates??

E-Cheques can bounce if there's not enough cash in the account ... takes around a week to go through.

Also - I would have paid this via PayPal using credit card or similar, not via bank transfer ... too risky.

Sale item is not there anymore, his feedback was good around 260

Assuming it does not bounce can he still take back the money after that?

the reason he has such a nice house is probably because he scams people this way all the time!

also, ebay + expensive item = collect in person

If it doesn't bounce I don't think he can take the money back after ... unless I guess he sent it as a payment for goods then claims he hasn't received them? Not 100% sure on that part, not used PayPal much anymore recently !

lol its way too far to go.

What are you doing putting his house up on a public forum?

Have a word with yourself...that's ridiculous.

I have not posted his name and the house is listed on a public website so I do not see anything wrong.

yah I should have, paypal would not allow me because I was over the 2500 pounds yearly limit with without getting my account confirmed which I have now done.

This is the important part. I will go to the police if the cheque bounces.

Thanks

Wow that's a nice amount of cash. I'm going with a gut feeling but i doubt he actually has any money. I hope that doesn't bounce. Id be super worried about this probably speak to PP in person to get a ball rolling should it be needed.

What use is it contacting PayPal? He's paid via Bank Transfer, just the seller is sending a refund via E-cheque.

Were the tracking numbers real? What happend when you entered them into the royal mail/parcel force website?

First one was, but when P2G turned up he was not at home or something like that, the second time he booked the pickup with P2G but did not pay for it so he had a tracking number / reference number but they never pick up the package.

3rd time he said he dropped it to Parcel force and would send me the tracking number but never did.
