After just winning a Item on ebay I thought i would pay via paypal, However after clicking on pay by Paypal, and entering my email address and password it brings up a page (which looks very much like paypal and has the following at the top.

We have noticed an increasing fraudulent activity recently. In order to provide your security and protect you from fraudsters we have introduced a new system of identification that will help us to avoid any kind of fraud or unauthorised access.

Please enter as more information as possible to provide your complete identification and to activate all the features of the new system

It then goes on to ask me to fill in personal details, credit card info and the like. But what gets me is the bad use of english, but it was after i signed in straight through ebay...

Has anyone else seen this, filled it in?

What say you dodgy or no??

i would personally go to the paypal site first and sign in there to see if there any changes. if not it sounds a little dodgy, especially the cc details!

Hello,

Sometimes when i log into paypal they have a 'splash screen' asking me to update phone numbers and stuff.

I have yet to have anything to do with a credit card, but maybe i will in the future.

Sounds like this to be honest

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\

Open your hosts file with notepad, it should only have some commented lines (starting with #) and:

Code:
127.0.0.1 localhost

Unless you've added some stuff yourself

Sounds like something has worked its way in to your PC and is redirecting you to a fake PayPal site when you try and visit the real one.

edit: Also, does the PayPal URL start with https://www.paypal.com

Ah Paypal.com didnt although Paypal.co.uk did...

Ive sorted it via the .com, and changed my password etc.. so hopefully no harm done.

Very odd.

Cheers for the help!

Have you not got any anti spyware or anti virus software? That would have stopped the hosts file being edited.
