PayPal Fee's Question

What's worse is they actually charge you to send BETWEEN Paypal accounts... the money stays with paypal constantly and they STILL charge you normal fees
That's because standard consumer bank accounts do not give you online card handling. For that you need a merchant account which does cost.

To the second point I agree, that's a bit cheeky - but again there's only a fee on the receiver's end if they have a premier or business account. Again, presumably, because they're using it for online business so it's 'fair'. And yes, of course, it must make much more profit for Paypal than taking a card payment so if they didn't have that income they'd have to raise the charges somewhere else.

I don't see banks charging fees to send and receive money? Paypal make enough money in interest alone to cover base costs - hell it takes them 5 days to 'process' any money to your bank account anyway, shame it only takes 1 for them to take it huh? ;)

Paypal fees are riddiculously over-priced.. i've got nothing against them having fees but just not that much.

What's worse is they actually charge you to send BETWEEN Paypal accounts... the money stays with paypal constantly and they STILL charge you normal fees

Hi what planet are you from ?

I took out a £6900 bankers draft the other day, cost me £25 quid.

I used my Visa card in Eire and it cost me £3 everytime i used a cash point.

Banks charge **** loads of money for anything, they will charge whatever they can get away with Until people get fed up.

no swearing. FF.

Paypal rely on well hidden watertight terms and conditions always siding in their favour.

Rip off merchants

It's hardly hidden is it!? And I'd hardly say they were rip off merchants, it's still on of the cheapest ways to accept credit cards online. It works out to be very good value for small businesses.

Please link me to someone providing merchant account facilities for receiving occasional tiny amounts of money cheaper than PayPal does.

I wouldn't call that "hidden", nor would I call it "legal jargon", "jibberish" or claim it takes reading "3 hours of terms & conditions" to find. It's right there; there's a link on the front page - right in the middle of the page, in fact - to that information. Are you seriously saying you've been using PayPal for a year and you never thought to look at the clearly stated fees?

I did spend 2 hours or so reading things and trying to understand when i first signed up to PayPal and i admit freely i missed the 20p fee but i did know about the 3.4% fee which i have already stated.

Now can you please tell me you fully understand the below links ? :D

As far as I'm concered, the convenience is worth the cost. I've sold two items in the past week. One was won last friday, and I still haven't received the cheque. The other was one on Wednesday night, and the money was in my Paypal account by yesterday morning, so I can ship the goods tomorrow. Guess which transaction I'm happier with.

eh? i use paypal all the time and have never payed a fee

If you just pay with Paypal, then no - you won't have been charged. If you get money paid in, then you will have been charged.

You can, but only if it's coming from another Paypal account :)

Ah, of course. Forgot about that. My sister in law does that and gets right hacked off with people who pay from a bank account and incur charges for her.
