paypal gift?

thanks for replies

how long has this payment method been available

.... is there a catch to using this method?

No catch afaik but when I tried to send a large payment via paypal gift it was not free and instead asked me to pay the charges. I think it may be free up to £100 or so?

whats to stop everyone just doing this so the recipient doesnt get charged?

Because when you do it through ebay etc it automatically makes it an item charge and there isn't a way of changing it. Unless of course you did a separate payment but I doubt many buyers/sellers would want to do that. And it wouldn't have buyer/seller protection also

yup i suspect this man has hit the nail on the head. They are doing paypal gift to encourage more people to transfer money about using paypal and convince more people to use paypal outside ebay. I remember not so long ago they were trying to convince people to request money using paypal from their friends who they had lent money to!! I am guessing that idea didnt work too well so they have now moved to this paypal gift marketing thing.
