Paypal purchasing option

Only retailers that do not perform or sell bad gear would suffer chargeback. The situation is similar with credit cards.

That isnt the case unfortunatly, as i mentioned earlier, an etailer i used before oc stocked wc parts had horrible problems with chargebacks, because some people will always try to get something for nothing. Its like saying people wont get scammed on ebay if they dont sell crap stuff. The world doesnt work that way.

I'd imagine the risk of having paypal is higher than the potential gains. You mention that other etailers use it, so what? I'd hardly say OcUK are struggling for business lol.

It really isn't comparable to credit cards. Most cards used here will be from a provider that is registered in the UK and thus subject to UK financial laws, registered with the FSA and must abide decisions from the independant Financial Ombudsman. Paypal withdrew themselves from the FSA register and are now based in Luxembourg. If you don't like how they behave then you don't have much recourse other than taking them to court.

I know any large service will generate some level of complaints, but seriously have you ever heard of a case where a UK credit card company decided they didn't trust the buyer AND the seller and then kept the money for themselves?

Whilst I'm no fan of Paypal, I don't really object to it being made available as an option on OC, as long as the extra cost of fees and chargebacks are not absorbed within the product prices but get added as a surcharge only if you choose PP. I wonder if PP would be as popular if ebay sellers weren't forced to accept it whilst also being prohibited from surcharging for it.
