Ive just set up a Paypal account, as im about to bid on something on Ebay. I have never used Paypal before, so i have no idea how it works. I see in my account details that I have £0.00 account balance, but it will take 7-9 working days to transfer any money from my debit account to the paypal account. Is this the only way to use paypal, or can you add your bank details and pull money through once i win the auction, ie like you would normally pay with a debit card?

Have you 100% set it up.

Have you added the card details you want to use and then activated it!?

They send 2 small amounts of less than a pound to your account and you have to say what they were to prove that you own the account. This will take process within a week.

You then comfirm these and if right you can take the next step by comfirming all your details and then you are away.

Nope, I havent done that yet. Thanks for the information. Looks like im going to have to pay by postal order for this one then.

The two small amounts thing isnt necessary if your buying something, just adda credit/debit card and it will send payment straight away to the seller

When you come to pay it will note that you have £0.00 in your paypal balance and just draw the funds from your credit/debit card like any other credit/debit transaction

You dont have to wait x amount of days for the money to clear

To become completely verified don't you also have to answer an automated call to your house landline?

Yep you do.

Dont bother getting verified for this auction unless the seller insists. Just pay then normal way through paypal with a debit/credit card

You can pay using bank transfer without having to wait the 7-9 days but I think you need Direct Debit for this which may take some time to set up.

So you can do that then? Just pay with a debit card through paypal? If all else fails, the seller accepts postal order which should be easy enough.
