I've Googled and Googled but I can't quite see an answer for this. Does anyone know how long it takes to show that a seller has initiated a refund to the buyer in the Paypal resolution centre?

I've bought an item via goods & services for £150 and the seller doesn't want to send it out now so I've turned the transaction into a dispute and it has entered the resolution centre. The seller claims to have initiated the refund yesterday but nothing has come through on my end.

Yes I'm nervous, as he now seems dodgy and I know he can simply remove his card details and keep my money. :)

Thank you chaps and chapettes!

Should have pretty instant notification from PP that you've been refunded even if the funds take some time to transfer from whichever payment type he is using to fund them.

As tom_e has posted, it should be pretty much instant.

If he hasn't sent the item and has no proof of postage, then you should get the money back regardless of what the seller does; if he removes his details then it just means his PP account will go into the negative.

I got a refund from a guy on PayPal the other day. It was instant and then transferred in to my bank account from PayPal all on the same day

Right, so if he has actioned the refund it should show that in the resolution centre pretty much instantly?

Thank you all. Guess he is talking out of his behind as I suspected.

Agreed it should be instant. I wouldn't worry too much about him removing his card to avoid refunding as they will take the money anyway. Also, as you have opened a case, this should prevent him from removing his payment options until it has been resolved.

In case he is dodgy, be careful not to sign for any letters/parcels unless you were expecting them already, at least until you've got your money back.

Thanks again all - I now have my refund. What I don't understand is that he claimed that he had refunded me and Paypal was just sitting on the money in no-man's-land. I had no message from PP about that at all and it sounded like a tall tale so I sent them a message asking what was going on, they didn't explain anything but immediately escalated the dispute to a claim and the refund came through instantly.

What's that all about?
