PC becomes unresponsive when loading temp applications

I don't know what's causing this but when I load speedfan I get a BSOD, when I load coretemp, my PC just starts to run horribly slow and I can't load anything, if I try to load Argus Monitor the exact same thing happens.

I've googled the Speedfan BSOD's and other people are effected as well as the issues with Coretemp...

Hardware monitor works fine though and so does Real temp...

I'm running Windows 8.1. I didn't know where else to put this thread so I thought this forum would be best.

Can anyone shed some light on this please?

Core temp causes issues such as lock ups & blue screens with Windows 8, a mate recently experienced this issue

Yeah it seems like a lot of temperature applications are having difficult with Windows 8.1. I contacted the developer of CoreTemp who sent me a BETA version which now works fine with no issues.

I'd still like to be able to find something that can control the speed of my fans though.

Can you not install the application from your motherboard maker? Gigabyte's easytune works fine for me.
