PC beeps and doesn't boot. Any ideas?

Hi Guys

Looking at a PC for a friend which no longer wants to boot.

Turned it on, fan kicks in, does the floppy check and it all sounds normal, but the monitor doesn't come on and it beeps at me.

The sound is a long beep and then 2 short beeps: beeeeeeeeeeeeep beep beep.

Popped the lid and checked all wires were in ok.

Any ideas? Cheers

Either RAM or graphics card I think. If you have 2 sticks of RAM try it with just 1, and then the other. If you can get hold of another graphics card try it with that, or use intigrated if your motherboard has it?

Post the specs of the machine.

had already tried the RAM.

i guess that makes sense since the monitor didn't come on.
