PC Build Help

I am not sure whether my parents want to order tonight. And I am not sure about whether I should go AMD processors.

Dont go amd, the I3's arnt far off the 8150's (not sure about 8350's) but the i5's defiantly way to go if you want more bang for your buck and to future proof it. That for gaming anywho

What about the A10, it is £80 cheaper then the i5 and it has better graphics but it isn't as fast.

Have a look on youtube of the A10 playing a series of games.

See if its suitable if you want to save money.

I apologise over the P&P I misread the date you joined. Still it's something to work towards :)

The whole point of the Tinity APUs is for a cheap gaming setup without a dedicated GPU. Once you think about adding a GPU, being on the intel 1155 socket makes more sense......intel is more power efficient (I got your back dad if you read this lol) and there is a wider range of CPUs to consider aswell

Ok, I don't need a dvd writer so £20 is saved. Would the i3 be fast enough though because I know my brother convert the occasional video to put onto his ipod.

The i3 has hyperthreading which makes it a "faux quadcore", even though it is technically a dual core. The i3/i5/i7 also have Quicksync support, which helps speed up video encoding a lot, does his software support it? You could consider a Nvidia 660 for the CUDA support which is more commonly used but then you forfeit the free games bundle on the 7850

a few months ago i was using an Clarkdale I3 3.06 ghz processor and i was converting a video every other day. while converting i could still play games etc so defiantly more than efficient.

I think the software he uses is handbrake.
