Curious as to why, you all go for the 920 version and why a lot of you choose a cheap motherboard? Isn't the mobo one of the most important parts of a pc?

It's all down to money really, if you can afford to upgrade the processor and motherboard then by all means do. The other reason for choosing those parts was to fit a 80GB SSD into the setup.

As for the upgrade options for the UD3R it has pretty much everything you will need (24 gigabytes of memory maximum, SATA 6GB/s, USB3, Crossfire/SLI support etc..)

Cheap motherboard? lol

The UD3R is the same as everything else its just got less heat sinks and a couple of less features which people hardly use. Its a great motherboard it can do everything which the Rampage III can do except that bluetooth gimmick.

Those motherboards take the new hex core chips sand have the latest connectivity.

There's nothing newer than i7.

So just because of a few firewire, usb, esata ports etc, they add another £100-150?

Well it is much cheaper compared to the top 10 at least. So why when rampage III comes out people are willing to spend £340 for it just because it has a few extra lousy connections hardly anyone uses?

So I would be able to upgrade to intel core i7 extreme with that mobo I chose?

The UD3R will support any processor that uses socket 1366 end of story.

People are willing to spend money on more expensive Mobo's because of looks basically and some of the massive ethusiasts that use liquid nitrogen etc...

I see, I have a feeling a lot of you don't like the case either. Why would that be?

Overpriced and you could easily get an Antec 1200 for half the price for air cooling with better temperatures or a Corsair 800D for water cooling for a bit cheaper.

Yeah its over priced but then you pay a premium for every Lian Li case. Lian LIs are extremely well made and that tends to cost. Would I get one? No. But since you're building such a high performance rig you should get the case you want, yes the Lian Li is expensive but so what if you can afford it? Why house all that premium gear in a cheap case?

Very true, and of course you want to get something you'll appreciate looking at. I just want something that is 'fool' proof like me I'm a newbie lol. Since its a full tower, height being something around 61 cm and length 63 it really gives me a lot of space to work. I know the 800D is great, but it's just not my type when I look at it.

The motherboard says "not only supporting up to three graphics cards in a 3-Way Geforce SLI or CrossFireX configuration but also supporting up to four dual-GPU graphics cards." What do they mean by 4 dual gpu cards?
