Howdy,

Have been thinking of doing a completely new build, want it for pretty high end gaming + want it to be fairly future proof.

Budget shouldn't be to much of a problem, just came up with this build after doing some researching.

Whatcha think? Is it worth going for an extra 4gb ram?

Gainward GeForce GTX 580 "GOOD Edition" 1536MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card - £369.98

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - OEM -£156.98

Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - £144.98

Corsair HX 850W ATX Modular SLI Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-850HXUK) -£143.99

Cooler Master HAF X Gaming Tower Case - Black (RC-942) - £142.99

OCZ Agility 3 60GB 2.5" SATA-3 Solid State Hard Drive (AGT3-25SAT3-60G) - £92.99

Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD103SJ) - £43.99

BeQuiet Dark Rock Advanced CPU Cooler (Socket LGA 775 / 1155 / 1156 / 1366, AM2 / AM2+ / AM3 / 754 / 939 / 940) - £42.98

Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9) - £39.98

LG GH22NS70 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM - £16.99

Thats spot on, 8GB RAM is so cheap you may as well get it.

Its really simple, theres even a choice of clock speeds in the BIOS from 4-4.8GHZ, just select a value and let the board do the rest.

Yeah I'd seen a few screenies seemed idiot proof! What do you lot think of the Asus P8P67? Or asrock best bet?

The Be Quiet! Dark Rock Advanced has a bit of a fiddly mounting system, but does look very sexy :p

If your gonna need to remove it regularly for any reason you may wanna go with an alternative but if your just gonna put it in and forget about it then it's all good, except that the Dark Rock Pro is quite a bit better, but a bit more costly.

Edit - on Sandy Bridge it's not actually that much difference actually, so you can ignore my last comment unless the price difference is minimal - benchmarks

Ah I don't really do fiddly, first system in a good few years I've built myself. Any other suggestions on cooler?

Corsair a50/a70? mounting takes literally 5 mins either on intel or amd, and no faffing about with a sticky backplate either.

Not exactly a bank buster either :)

The A70 (suggested by fruman) is a very good performer and around the same pricepoint as the Dark Rock advanced, not too sure on the noise levels of it though, could also chuck some better fans on though if they are too noisy.

A70 Review

The sound profile for the A70 is pretty easy on the ears. It is not a high pitched whine at all. It is mostly a low hum from the turbulence of the air passing over the fins. It is fairly easy to ignore the sound from these fans unless you are in a very quiet room and easily bothered by any noise.

Noise isn't really a massive issue for me, as long as it doesn't blow my ears off I'm not fussed. The A70 does look fairly decent though!

Yeah, you won't be annoyed with the sound, i get a bit erratic when it comes to sound from my machine, so i tend to notice my a50 slightly more as others say it's not loud, so my solution is just get a nice shiny new set of headphones, should do the trick :D

Couple of changes being cooler/extra 4gb ram/graphics card brand/SSD.

Not 100% on cooler yet going to do a bit more research before I go ahead I think.

^^ EPIC!

Enough said.

When you do the install make sure to set SATA to AHCI mode and only plug in the SSD while installing Windows. Once done turn off and plug your other HDD's in :)

Stoner81.

Yeah that build looks amazing, although I'm pretty sure you can get a 24x DVD writer at that cost?

If your willing to spend an extra tenner on the CPU cooler then you can afford the Thermalright Silver Arrow which is one of the best coolers on the market.

The Asrock seems to be getting reasonable reviews, a few members here have been using them.
