Hi all

I picked up a prebuilt on a decent deal last week which I'm thinking of moving into my current case, as I really don't like the case it came in and it's also huge!

The AIO would only fit at the front of my current case, and I suspect might mean that the new GPU doesn't actually fit, so I'm thinking I might use my Dark Rock Pro 4 instead. I'm also wondering whether my RM750x would be good enough for the new build.

Current spec:

CPU: 5800X3D
Cooler: Dark Rock Pro 4
GPU: 3080FE
Motherboard: MSI Mortar Max B450
RAM: 32GB (2x16GB) Kingston Fury 3600Mhz
SSD: 2 x WD SN550 1TB
PSU: Corsair RM750x
Case: Fractal Meshify C, with 4 x 140mm (2 front intake, 2 top exhaust) and 1 x 120mm (rear exhaust) fans

Prebuilt spec:

CPU: 9800X3D
Cooler: MSI A13 360mm AIO (top exhaust)
GPU: 5080 MSI Ventus 3X OC Plus
Motherboard: MSI Pro B650-S Wifi
RAM: 32GB (2x16GB) Apacer NOX 6000Mhz
SSD: WD SN3000 1TB
PSU: MSI MAG 850GL
Case: Generic case with 3 x 120mm intake and 1 x 120mm exhaust fan

Any advice appreciated, thanks!

How old is the RMX?

It might be a little borderline but I suspect it'll be fine, especially if you undervolt the 5080 which I'd recommend doing regardless.

I'd normally suggest 850 or higher for a 5080 build, but it should be alright. You won't have the new connector for the card though, whereas the MSI GL will.

Looks like just over 300mm for the Ventus, would be very tight.

Wouldn't that void the warranty? Sure, you could shift it all back on RMA, but still.. hardly seems worth it.

Good point - it is getting on a bit now. Looks like the 5080 will pull about as much power as my 3080, so I was hoping it wouldn't be an issue.

Is the connector different to the 12-pin GPU power cable I bought from Corsair for my 3080? I hated the one that came with the FE so got the Corsair one almost immediately.

Good point re the warranty... and it is a 2 year parts/labour warranty so I guess I'd really have to keep absolutely everything for if I did need to transplant the bits back into the old case.

They're not the same, the 12-pin for the 30 series was nvidia specific, before it got adopted widely as 12vHPWR and replaced by 12v-2x6.

They are pin compatible, since the design is basically the same (minus the 4 sense pins), but cross usage is a grey area and not something I'd want to recommend.

Plus, if you have issues with the connector and the pre-build company find out you were using an old Corsair 12 pin for the 30 series (sometimes they melt and can't be easily removed), that's unlikely to turn out well!

Thanks - looks like Corsair do a new version of the connector, but it's £32 including delivery so I'm probably better off just moving the MSI PSU across!
