Hey there,

I've spent the last few days putting together a list of components for a new build, using the current sales to my advantage (I think). I'm going for an Intel i5/Nvidia build (I'm aware AMD is possibly better value for money and offers better upgrade options - I'm just more comfortable with an Intel).

Is anyone able to provide advice as to if this PC will be able to run games without any issues, or if there are any compatibility issues I should be aware of before hitting 'BUY NOW'. Also any advice on wasted money or better components would be greatly appreciated, many thanks.

MB : MSI MPG Z390 GAMING EDGE AC LGA 1151 DDR4 Motherboard
CPU : Intel Core i5 9600KF Socket LGA 1151 Processor
CPU Cooler : NZXT Kraken X62 280mm
RAM : Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4
CASE : NZXT H510
SSD : x1 Crucial MX500 1 TB & x1 BLUE SN550 1TB
GPU : Asus GeForce RTX 2060 (open to advice on this)

Power supply: Undecided on this - 650W should be enough juice?

My goals with the build are to game casually on high graphics without issues. However I am also a pilot in training and would like to run flight sim, I'm aware this is a demanding game but would this build handle it?

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Once again I am very aware AMD offers better value and performance in some circumstances. I'd very much like to stick to an Intel build though.

Thanks a lot.

I'd look at getting the 10600K over the 9th gen as this has hyperthreading so will age better, bear in mind though that you would need a newer Z490 board to support this CPU.

An RTX 2060 would run flight sim but be prepared to turn down some settings as it's quite a demanding game even for the latest 30 series GPUs.

A 650w psu will be fine but 750-850 if you want more headroom for more powerful future upgrades.

Thank you for your help. I'll definitely look at that.

Would you say there's any real benefit for a casual gamer to get the RTX 2060? Would a GTX 1660 Super suffice my needs? Once again I completely appreciate that flight sim is a demanding game, I'm just looking to play medium and average 30-40 fps which is all you seem to need for this game to feel smooth.

A 1660 super will get you 30fps at 1080p ultra detail and a 2060 35fps so if you lower the detail then you should easily get enough fps.

So in your opinion the 1660 super would be a better buy for me? As well as being able to run flight sim on the specs I want, it should be able to run fps games without causing issues?

If I combine an i5 10600K CPU with, for example, an MSI MAG Z490 TOMAHAWK ATX MB I should be looking at a fairly decent setup thats capable of running games comfortably?

Yes.

The 1660 super is fine as long as your prepare to lower the detail in some demanding games.

The advantage of the 2060 is that it has DLSS and raytracing although raytracing is of less benefit but with DLSS if a game supports it then it can give a nice boost to fps.

So would the following purchases make sense? Could I also get your advice on CPU coolers and GPU's once again..

MB : MSI MAG TOMAHAWK z490
CPU : i5 10600KF 4,8GHz 6 CORE
GPU : MSI GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER / Or should I get the Gigabyte version of this GPU??
RAM : Corsair 16GB DDR4 3200MHz
SSD : WD BLUE SN550 1TB
PSU : 750W?
CASE : NZXT H510
COOLER : Any advice on a suitable cooler that wont break the bank?

Is there anywhere you can see that I'm spending unnecessary money? Any compatibility issues?

Thanks so much for your help and advice, really appreciate it.

Everything looks good and it doesn't matter which gpu to get .

Here is cheaper motherboard to consider but I'm not sure of the diffrence.

Coolers there are so many to choose from, your case supports up to 165mm tall so do you just want a cheap cooler that or something that's astectlly pleasing as well.

Maybe @Joxeon has a view on this.

Thanks a lot.

A cooler that does the job is all i'm after really. Aesthetics aren't important to me at all, my PC could be a plain black box, but as long as it functions correctly I'm happy.
