Hey,

I finished building my first PC about a day ago. I put everything together but had to call out someone to help me get it to post (depressing).

I have installed Windows 7 and all of my drivers for my hardware. The PC works fine on desktop/Internet applications.

When I start a game up (for example CSS) it gets to the loading screen and then goes black. The signal is lost from the monitor and it goes in to "power saving mode".

I have to reboot to get things back to normal.

The guy who came around to help my PC post said something about the processor and re-applying thermal paste. Would the processor have anything to do with this kind of behavior?

Thanks for your time,

Hatton

If the processor is fine at desktop but crashes during gaming it could be overheating. Download a programme call hwmonitor and see what the temperature is? This be the most likely reason for him suggestion reapplying the TIM and resinstalling the cooler

What is you full system spec?

CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1100T 3.31GHz
CPU Cooler: Corsair H70
MOBO: ASUS Crosshair Formula V
RAM: Corsair Dominator GT 16GB
GPU: AMD Radeon 6850 x 2 (Crossfire)
HDD: 1TB Western Digital, 500GB Hitachi
SDD: 60GB OCZ Agility 3

I removed the crossfire bridge from the two graphic cards.

My games run perfectly now.

What should I do to get crossfire running properly?

I have same problem, I just build my PC, I load up a game and a minute later the PC shuts down or restarts...I am too thinking this is a Processor problem/overheating...

Are you running crossfire? We established the problem was with my crossfire. When I took the bridge off my games ran fine.

Just need to find a way to get crossfire to work properly...
